Services
St. Catherine's Mission is dedicated to providing various sacramental and community services. among these are weddings, funerals, baptisms, house and car blessings, quinceneras (sweet 16's), homeless ministry, pastoral community counseling.
Weddings.
St. Catherine's Mission endeavors to provide a meaningful , reverent wedding ceremony. While adhering to basic sacramental policy , this Mission honors the importance and place of cultural traditions. thus there is room for a certain amount of flexibility. This mission conducts services in English, Spanish, Italian and Latin.
PROCEDURE:
The first step is to set up an appt with me, Fr. Ruiz at your earliest convenience for pre-marital counseling. This is crucial so that we can secure the date. You are asked to bring paper and pen or pencil for taking notes. The pre-marital counseling includes marriage preparation topics such as psychological, educational, financial, physical or nutrition, social and religious readiness. The second half of this pre-marital counseling meeting includes the description of the actual wedding ceremony. In order to secure the date and follow proper procedure you are asked to make a donation deposit of $150 to cover the priest's time and materials and the securing of the wedding date. This is non-refundable and is a donation to the church and GOD.
The next step is the wedding rehearsal. During the wedding rehearsal, the priest and wedding party are apprised of the wedding line-up. this is an opportunity to answer and questions and exercise any flexibility that we may deem appropriate. I , the presiding priest, will also bless the food at the wedding rehearsal. It is at this time that the rest of the donation is accepted. We realize that the wedding day is often stressful and wondering whether "we took care of Father" is an unnecessary burden on the busywedding day activities. The usual and customary donation at this point, varies . This includes the priest's time and material. Depending on distance this may not cover all expenses. While this Mission is sensitive to the financial status of the couples, you are asked to exercise sound religious judgement. Some couples have opted to assist our ministry more by donating more than suggested. In rare instances, but for a just cause, concessions and flexibilty can be exercised in unique financial situations.
During the day of the wedding. I will bless the food at the reception. Please be sure to reserve a place for the priest at the table. Please also to be sure to take a photo with the priest first so that adequate time is alloted for the completion of marriage licenses and church certificates.
